Marzano, Pickering, and Pollock identify nine instructional
strategies which have been proven through research to increase student
achievement on standardized tests. For each of the strategies listed
the research is summarized, related classroom practices are identified,
and supporting technologies are listed.
In "Using Technology with Classroom Instruction that Works," Howar Pitler and others point out that "Using technology for technology's sake isn't a good application of instructional time or funding, and it is unlikely to improve student achievement." These authors suggest that careful planning for instruction will lead to appropriate selection of technologies to support lessons. The table below provides connections between lesson planning steps and strategies which support those steps.
